We start from the job, not the app
Every question is a real job someone needs done: keep the family's passwords safe, stop doomscrolling at night. We collect them from what people ask on the site.
ToolMenu has checked 72 apps by hand. None of them paid to be here. Here is exactly how it works.
Every question is a real job someone needs done: keep the family's passwords safe, stop doomscrolling at night. We collect them from what people ask on the site.
Someone installs each app and uses it for that job for at least a few days, on the devices people actually have. We note what is annoying as well as what is good.
Not a list of twenty. Three picks, each with a plain reason, plus the apps we looked at and why they missed.
Prices and plans change all the time. Each app shows when it was last tested, and price changes are checked against the official pricing page.
When you type a question, we first look for one our editors have already answered. If there is none, an AI model reads your question and chooses three apps, but only from apps we have already checked and with the facts we wrote down. It can not invent an app or a price. If the AI is not available, a simple matcher does the same job.
Some links are affiliate links, so we may earn a small commission if you buy. We also sell clearly labelled sponsored spots. Neither ever changes a ranking, a fit score or which three apps you see. If an app stops being good, it loses its spot, sponsor or not.
Tell us at hello@toolmenu.app and we will fix it. You can also suggest an app.
